ORTON-GILLINGHAM

Orton-Gillingham is a phonetically based, multisensory, sequential, systematic, and rule based approach to reading, writing, and spelling.  This very successful reading program contains these key components: phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, explicit phonics, spelling, multisensory reinforcement, controlled reading and decodable text, vocabulary, and comprehension.

DYSLEXIA

Dyslexia is a neurologically based hereditary disorder. This is a  disability found at the language level involving auditory and phonological problems.  People with dyslexia can exhibit difficulties with speech sounds (delayed speech), omit parts of words, and make articulation errors resulting in difficulties in discriminating sounds, remembering sounds, retrieving sounds, and articulating sounds.

INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION

Each child is seen on a one-to-one basis for one hour.  A structured lesson involving multisensory techniques is used incorporating reading, spelling, writing, and phonemic awareness activities.

MULTISENSORY

Multisensory is the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic-tactile pathways to to stimulate the brain to aid in learning.

SPEECH EVALUATIONS

Diagnosis and therapy of all language based, cognitive, memory, vocabulary, organizational, speech and reading difficulties using methods individually tailored to each client's educational and social needs.
